About Stephen

Stephen was introduced to the Violin by his father Derek, also a violinmaker, restorer and valuer. As a very young age he became interested in the design, as well as the sound of the instrument. Over the years whilst growing up he regularly accompanied his father to the London auction houses, where he learnt to understand the age, origin, makers and value of these fine instruments.

The most valuable piece of knowledge his father taught him was what an instrument means to its owner, and with over 20 years experience Stephen Lyall is able to help players get the very best out of their instrument.
